Cullercoats Coffee Co. Bistro in Whitley Bay has been granted a premises licence to serve alcohol seven days a week. However, councillors included several conditions to mitigate the impact this could have on residents.
The eatery, located on 1-5 Countess Avenue, originally applied to serve alcohol on Mondays and to serve alcohol between the hours of 12pm to 10pm on weekdays, 12pm to 11pm on Saturdays, and 12pm to 10pm on Sundays. The business was not previously licenced to serve alcohol on Mondays.
However, several residents raised objections to these new hours citing a potential increase in noise and public disturbance.
