'Cuddle monster' who spent seven years in kennels returned to rescue yet again

He spent seven years in kennels in Romania before being brought over to the UK for a second chance at life.

But after spending a few months with his loving owner, he has sadly been returned to rescue because they can "no longer care for him".

Buda, a German shepherd cross chow chow, has been described as an "absolute cuddle monster who loves all of the fuss that he can get".

The nine-year-old is up for adoption with Jerry Green Dog Rescue in North Lincolnshire, who have issued a desperate plea to rehome the "sweet, gentle giant".

A spokeswoman said: "He only arrived in the UK a few months ago, and we can’t bear the thought of this gorgeous boy having to spend even one more night in a kennel after going through so much.

"For the time being Buda remains in his home and is being well looked after with the support of the team at our North Lincolnshire centre.

"However, due to his owner’s situation, time is running out to find Buda a new home before he has to come into kennels."

Buda is a sociable boy who could potentially live with another suitable dog if they were a good match for each other. He can also live with children over aged 14.

He loves his toys, especially his tennis ball. However, he struggles with sore joins and needs lifelong pain relief and joint supplements.

The spokeswoman added: "We are keeping all our fingers (and paws) crossed that with your help, Buda can be adopted without facing kennel life once more.

"Please share his story far and wide and help Buda find his ‘happily ever after’ that he so deserves.

"To find out more about Buda and the home he is looking for please visit Adopt a dog | Jerry Green Dog Rescue (jerrygreendogs.org.uk) and filter the search to North Lincolnshire.

"Alternatively, please contact a member of the team on: nlincs@jerrygreendogs.org.uk or 01652 653343."

Jerry Green Dog Rescue has been transforming the lives of abandoned and unwanted dogs for almost 60 years.

Founded by dog lover Jerry Green, the rescue centre opened their first site in North Lincolnshire in in 1961.

Since then, another three sites have opened – one in South Yorkshire, East Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.

This enables the dogs to move around each site if they’re unable to secure their forever home at their initial placement.

A spokeswoman said: “All dogs deserve a good life and a safe, loving home. We exist to provide a safe place for homeless dogs and to find new loving places for them to live.”

They stand by the motto: “Once a Jerry Green dog, always a Jerry Green dog.”
