(Picture: Crystal Palace FC)Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish says the club remains “absolutely committed” to the £100million redevelopment of Selhurst Park.
Palace were given the green light by Croydon Council to increase the capacity of their home to around 34,000 seats by rebuilding the main stand back in 2018.
The work was originally scheduled to be completed in time for the 2021/22 season but a number of delays, including complications over land ownership and the Covid pandemic, means work on the stadium is yet to begin.
In the interim, the Eagles have focused on the £20m redevelopment of their academy, the final phase of which is to be finished early next year, with a similar revamp of the first-team training ground underway.
Planning permission for the stadium project remains valid but the club will have to submit further information and alter some elements of its plans in order to comply with policy changes that have come into effect in the four years since they were originally given the go-ahead.
“The Selhurst Park redevelopment will exceed £100m of investment, and I’m sure supporters can appreciate the scale, complexity and enormity of this project,” Parish said. “But it is something we are absolutely committed to.
"I’d like to thank Croydon Council for their continued support in enabling us to update the application since the resolution to grant planning permission was issued.
“We very much hope to make significant progress in the coming months, and will keep supporters and stakeholders updated as and when we have more news.”
