Crystal Palace injury news ahead of Newcastle clash as Patrick Vieira rules three stars out

Crystal Palace will again be without Joachim Andersen for the upcoming visit of Newcastle United. The centre-back could be out of action for up to a month after suffering a calf injury in the recent defeat at Chelsea.

Eagles boss Patrick Vieira made changes for the midweek home draw with Manchester United, with his side facing three matches in seven days. Chris Richards was called upon to take Andersen's spot, and the 22-year-old is likely to keep his spot against the Magpies.

Odsonne Edouard, Will Hughes, and Jean-Phillipe Mateta all came into the starting eleven as Palace earnt a 1-1 draw with the Red Devils, courtesy of a stunning stoppage-time free-kick from Michael Olise. Nathan Ferguson and James McArthur have missed the season so far through injury, and Vieira outlined the pair are still a 'couple of weeks away' from potentially returning to the fold.

The Palace boss told reporters: “Joachim Andersen is not going to be involved in the game tomorrow – it will be a couple of weeks. We just have to wait for him to come back.”

“Nathan [Ferguson] started training with the team. For Macca [James McArthur], it will be next week until he can get a little bit more involved. For both players, we are still a couple of weeks away before thinking about them getting involved.”
