Crystal Palace continue manager search as Roy Hodgson unsure and Steve Cooper ruled out

Crystal Palace are exploring all their options before appointing a head coach ahead of next season.

Palace are believed to have spoken to former Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers, before he returned to Celtic, and Nottingham Forest’s Steve Cooper, though Rodgers is returning to Celtic and Standard Sport understands Cooper will not become the next Eagles boss, either.

Club chairman Steve Parish is thought to be primarily targeting a manager from the UK who has Premier League experience, though former Borussia Monchengladbach boss Adi Hutter is a candidate.

Roy Hodgson, 75, came out of retirement to save Palace from relegation last season. While he is not out of the running, it is thought Hodgson would need convincing if the club did table a one-year contract.

Hodgson and his long-time assistant Ray Lewington arrived in March on a short-term basis following Patrick Vieira’s sacking and guided Palace to 11th place, their highest position since finishing 10th in 2015.
