Crystal Palace Women's manager Dean Davenport has thanked the fans after a new record crowd at Selhurst Park against south London rivals Charlton Athletic.
The Eagles welcomed the Addicks to SE25 for an FA Women's Championship clash yesterday (Sunday), with 1,969 fans in attendance at Selhurst Park, which was a new record attendance for Palace Women.
The game ended 2-1 to Charlton Athletic, after a Emily Simpkins penalty and a Melissa Johnson strike on the stroke of half time made it 2-0 to the visitors in the first half. Felicity Gibbons halved the deficit midway through the second half, but Palace were unable to force an equaliser.

Despite the defeat, Palace Women's manager Davenport took to social networking website Twitter to express his gratitude to the fans for their support.
In a tweet, he said: "I'd like to thank everyone of the 1,969 supporters that showed up today we definitely heard you!! Gutted we couldn't get the result we all wanted or deserved, tough to take but will the process carries on."
The result leaves Palace seventh in the FA Women's Championship with four wins and four defeats from their eight games so far this season, while the Addicks moved up to fourth in the table.
