Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira makes Aaron Wan-Bissaka admission amid Man United transfer interest

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has admitted that Manchester United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka was "loved by the fans" during his time at Selhurst Park.

Diogo Dalot has cemented his place in Erik ten Hag's starting XI this season with a series of superb performances that have cast doubt over Wan-Bissaka's future at the club. The 25-year-old has only played four minutes of Premier League football this season.

Wan-Bissaka started his first game this season for United in their 2-0 win over Burnley in the Carabao Cup - providing a stunning assist for Christian Eriksen's opening goal with a brilliant cross.

MEN Sport understand West Ham are interested in signing Wan-Bissaka, though Palace have also been mentioned as potential suitors. Vieira has now stoked the fire regarding a possible return to his former club, with the Eagles boss claiming that Wan-Bissaka was a fan favourite during his time at the club.

When asked about his side's interest in a potential transfer, Vieira said: "Listen, he is a Man United player. We have to respect that and there's nothing more to say about that.

"He is a good player, there is no doubt about that. He's related to this football club and I think he's been loved by the fans. But again, he's a United player. I hope we're going to be busy [in January].

"We always work hard to try to improve the squad but we know how tough and difficult it is to find the players to improve the team. We are quite short on numbers but it is important to find the right players."
