Crysencio Summerville breaks silence on Leeds United future as admirers stack up

Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville has said he will remain focused on the Netherlands European U21s Championship campaign before he addresses his club future, following the Whites relegation from the Premier League.

The 21-year-old winger enjoyed something of a breakout campaign for Leeds last season, as he announced himself on the scene by scoring in four consecutive matches before the World Cup break, including a memorable last-minute winner against Liverpool at Anfield last November.

Summerville was unable to add to his goalscoring tally over the second half of the campaign as Leeds slipped into a relegation battle that they ultimately lost, but Summerville appears to have won over a number of admirers as Leeds head into a summer of uncertainty when it comes to who they will be able to keep hold of.

The likes of Aston Villa, Everton, PSV and Feyenoord have all been linked with the Leeds youngster this summer, but he has told Dutch outlet NOS that he is remaining laser-focused on his international commitments for now.

“I see and read some things here and there, but I focus on this tournament," he said. "I also deliberately asked my agent not to give me that information until after the European championship. We can take a prize, we’ll see the rest later."

Summerville also added that he 'loves' the Elland Road club, with his Anfield winner a cherished memory.

“I used to play FIFA with the guys I played against in England. I enjoyed every game. And I really love Leeds, where I came in as an 18-year-old,” he continued, before discussing his winner at Liverpool.

“That moment will stay with me forever. A few hours after that goal I turned 21: that was the best birthday I could wish for. I hope we return to the Premier League as soon as possible.”

Summerville started the Netherlands European U21s Championship opener against Belgium, with the two sides drawing 0-0. Games against Portugal and Georgia follow in the group stage.
