Cruel thieves target man (80) in distraction theft by claiming ponies had broken loose from paddock

A watch, bronze statue and cutlery were stolen from an 80-year-old Balfron man’s home after he was duped by “despicable” crooks who distracted him by claiming his ponies had broken loose from their paddock.

Police are now appealing for information on the callous theft.

At around 10.30am on Wednesday, January 18, a man called at the door of the pensioner and told him that a number of his ponies had got loose from the paddock.
