The Pass Does Not Care That You Came Prepared
You read the packing lists. You broke in your boots on Manali's mall road for three evenings. You bought electrolyte sachets and a trekking pole and a rain cover for your pack. None of it matters at 3,800 metres when the trail turns to loose scree and your lungs start working two beats behind the rest of your body. The Hampta Pass, which connects the Kullu Valley to the Lahaul-Spiti region at roughly 4,270 metres, does not reward preparation the way a board exam does. It rewards presence. The preparation gets you to the trailhead. What happens after is something else.
