Police are lifting a cordon three weeks after human remains were found in a field in Sutton-in-Ashfield. Officers have been at the scene in Coxmoor Road since a member of the public came across bones on April 26.
Digging work has finished and police said they were leaving the field on Thursday afternoon, May 18. Skeletal remains were removed from the site at the end of last week and a post-mortem examination is in progress to identity the person and the cause of death.
Coxmoor Road had been closed in both directions following the discovery, causing heavy traffic between the A611 Derby Road in Sutton-in-Ashfield and the B6020 Kirkby Road in Ravenshead. But the road has since reopened.
