A rogue cow has caused chaos on a Scots railway line this morning after it escaped onto the tracks.
The comical incident took place on the Milngavie line in East Dunbartonshire at around 10am, when rail bosses were alerted to an animal roaming dangerously close to where trains would normally pass through at speed.
The customer information team, who monitor the CCTV cameras, spotted the culprit and hot-footed it to the site where they coaxed the cow away from the area and removed it to safety.
A photo taken at the scene, which was shared by ScotRail on social media, shows one of the crew members decked out in fluorescent safety gear and a hard hat standing alongside the cow, as they look to move it on.
The rail firm confirmed that services on the Milngavie line have had to be delayed as a result of the event, but that the number 15 bus between Glasgow city centre and the town will accept commuters' train tickets if required.
A spokesperson added: "The cow has now been remooooved. Shout out to our wonderful customer information team, who monitor our CCTV cameras as well as answer your help point calls, for sharing that belter of a pic!"
A social media user commented: "That's an udderly ridiculous pun", while another wrote: "Looks like a ‘week aff’ to me!" A third added: "Is that Aberdeen Angus?"
