Covid: Positivity rate stays below 1% in Pune Metropolitan Region

PUNE: The laboratories screened 4,698 patients for Covid-19 and found 34 positive for the contagion in the Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR) on Thursday, making up 0.72% positivity rate. The positivity rate in the region has been staying below 1% for the past few days.

Barring a single Covid death on March 17, there has been no casualty in the region since March 3. Of the 34 cases, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) registered 14 cases, followed by the Pimpri Chinchwad area (12) and the rural areas (8).

Currently, there are a total 219 active Covid patients in the region, including 196 in home isolation. “The positivity trend of less than 1% needs to sustain for a few more weeks to conclusively opine that the third wave has reached the bottom point,’’ said an expert.

The number of recoveries stood at 55 in PMR on Thursday.
