Covid infections spike in children but cases in the UK at its lowest in four months

The number of Covid infections in children has increased across the UK, new figures show.

While the total number of infections has dropped, reaching a level last seen at the start of autumn 2022, there has been a spike among schoolchildren.

Infections have also gone up in the 35-49 age group, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
