Covid infections increase in every area of the Liverpool City Region

All areas of the Liverpool City Region have recorded another rise in Covid infections.

According to the latest data from Public Health England, there have been 13,027 infections in the week ending March 21 in the Liverpool City Region - that's 2,313 more infections than the previous week. It means the city region's week-on-week percentage change figure increased by 22%.

The week-on-week percentage change figure increases in the six areas of the city region were: 21% rise in Knowsley; 13% in Liverpool; 27% in Halton; 25% in St Helens; 16% in Sefton; and, 34% in Wirral. There were also rises in Warrington, West Lancs, and Cheshire West and Chester. In England, there was a 21% rise in infections in the week ending March 21.

Liverpool

Liverpool's positive tests came to 3,464 cases in the week ending March 21, which is 393 more cases than the previous week. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure went up by 13%. The latest infection rate was 692.1 cases per 100,000 people.

Wirral

Wirral's positive tests came to 3,180 cases in the week ending March 21, which is 810 more cases than in the previous seven days. This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure went up by 34%. The latest infection rate was 980.5 cases per 100,000 people.

Halton

There were 1,151 positive tests over the last week - that's 245 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change figure went up by 27% in Halton in the week ending March 21. The latest infection rate is 887 cases per 100,000 people.

St Helens

There was a total of 1,487 cases in the week ending March 21, which is 301 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in St Helens is 821.1 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure went up by 25%.

Knowsley

There was a total of 1,167 cases in the week ending March 21, which is 201 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 765.5 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure increased by 21%.

Sefton

Sefton had a total of 2,578 cases in the week ending March 21, which is a 363 more cases than in the previous week. The latest infection rate is 934.4 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases rose by 16% week on week.

Liverpool City Region

There were 13,027 positive tests over in the week ending March 21, which is 2,313 more cases than in the previous week. This means the week-on-week percentage change increased by 22%. The latest infection rate is 765.06 cases per 100,000 people.

Warrington

There were 1,895 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 21, which is 398 more cases than the previous week. The week-on-week percentage figure rose by 27%. There was an infection rate of 904.98 per 100,000 people.

Cheshire West and Chester

There were 3,501 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending March 21, which is 788 more cases than the previous week. The latest infection rate is 1,018.26 cases per 100,000 people, and the week-on-week percentage increased by 29% in cases.

England

In the week ending March 21, England recorded 486,593 coronavirus cases, which is 84,191 more cases than in the previous seven days. There was a week-on-week percentage rise of 21% in cases in England, and there was an infection rate of 860.46 per 100,000 people.
