JAMSHEDPUR: The Covid-19 graph of the third wave is moving southwards and if it continues, the positive cases will come down more in coming weeks, said Tata Steel medical advisor Dr Rajan Chaudhry on Friday.
He said since last week the number of people admitted in the Covid ward of Tata Main Hospital (TMH) has come down remarkably which is a positive sign.
He underlined the importance of vaccination, which has proved to be one of the main factors behind decrease in deaths due to Covid during the third wave.
He said in the third wave, most of the deaths are due to other comorbidities.
Asked whether it is the right time to open schools and other education institutions here, Dr Rajan said the district administration has to take the call on this, keeping in mind the data on Covid they have.
The death of patients is still keeping the district administration on tenterhooks. On Thursday, the district recorded three deaths related to Covid. Though all the three who died on Thursday were above 65 years and had more than one comorbidities.
On Thursday, 248 people were detected Covid positive and 389 were discharged from various hospitals in the district.
Sources said 7,135 samples were tested.
