Covid-19: Special camps boost response across Maharashtra

PUNE: Around 14 lakh children in the 12-14 age group have received their first shot of Covid-19 vaccine across the state within a fortnight of the introduction of the inoculation drive for this category primarily because of dedicated campaigns.

In Pune, the number of such beneficiaries covered is 1.27 lakh, while in Mumbai the number is lagging with just 38,092 getting their first dose. In Nagpur, around 32,267 beneficiaries have received their first shot. Nashik reported that around 1.37 lakh beneficiaries received the shots, while in Aurangabad around 13,027 got the doses.

Dr Sanjay Patil, chairman of Indian Medical Association’s Hospital Board of India, Pune chapter, said, “To normalise the coming academic year, vaccination among kids is essential. Once they generate the antibodies for the contagion, parents will remain worry-free of future Covid waves if there are any.”
