A couple who gave their child an "extravagant" Disney-inspired name have revealed they were cruelly mocked for their decision by online trolls. Jade Jeans and her husband, Joshua, shared a deep love for the magical animation films.
And the pair were so inspired by the movie makers that they named their daughter 'Disney'. But Jade and Joshua were hit with waves of negative responses from strangers, the Mirror reports.
The couple spoke out after Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury were met with backlash after deciding on a name for their firstborn. On Monday, the reality TV pair revealed they had chose to name their new daughter 'Bambi'.
The internet was left divided after the announcement of the unique Disney-themed name. Molly-Mae claimed she'd had her heart set on the name 'Bambi' since she was a young girl and warned fans that while some people would love it others would definitely not be so keen.
It seems the Love Island star's predictions were correct as many have taken to social media to mock Bambi's name following the highly anticipated announcement. One wrote on twitter: "Does Molly-Mae not know what happened to Bambi’s mum?" Another cheekily said: "Oh deer".
Jade and Joshua however know only too well what the reality tv star who's been forced to turn off her comments on the Instagram post is going through. The Bristol couple welcomed their baby girl in 2019 and initially wanted to name her 'Belle' after the heroine in the 1991 film Beauty and the Beast. However, they decided to settle on something much more unique and named their daughter 'Disney'.
The surprised reactions began at St. Michael's Hospital shortly after their daughter's arrival when nurses on the maternity ward shared their shock over the unusual choice. It wasn't just the nurses that found the name odd as Jade received backlash from strangers online after innocently sharing a post on a parenting Facebook page.
The mum said she was taken back by the amount of hateful comments she received as many people responded to her daughter's name with laughing and crying emojis. Despite this, Jade insists she wasn't put off by the nasty comments as she loves the name and was just thrilled to have her child after previously struggling to conceive.
She said: "Friends and family love the name and I do too. It's no one's business what we decided to call her, but in the end people just either love it or hate it."
The mum went on to reveal that if she ever had a son she would name him 'Sonic', after the popular video game character, as she believes highly unusual names are going to become more common in the future.
Molly-Mae and Tommy are not the only celebrity couple who have opted for a weird and wonderful baby name. Others include Elon Musk and Grimes who called their child X Æ A-12 and Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott who recently named their second child Aire.
