A councillor in Trafford is now sitting as an Independent and claims she was thrown out of the Labour group. Coun Louise Dagnall represents Priory ward, alongside the authority's Labour leader Coun Andrew Western and Coun Barry Brotherton.
She became an Independent more than a week ago, but has remained tight-lipped over the reason for the move other than to say: "It was not my decision". Coun Western has referred questions over the circumstances surrounding Coun Dagnall's exit to the North West Labour Party office in Warrington.
The office was contacted a week ago by the Local Democracy Reporting Service, but is yet to respond. On Coun Dagnall's Facebook page she can be seen with striking members of the Communication Workers Union on their picket line at Wharf Road, Sale, with then Labour colleague Coun Fianna Hornby on August 26.

And in another post she expresses 'solidarity' with the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) and is pictured with Coun Hornby and Coun Ben Hartley holding an RMT flag. She was re-elected in May with 2,076 votes ahead of her closest rival, Conservative Rupali Paul who polled 824 votes.
When initially contacted by the LDRS Coun Dagnall declined to comment other than to say: "It was not my decision." She has not responded to a request for further comment or to phone calls.
A spokesperson from the North West Labour Party said: "The party does not comment on internal party matters and any complaints from party members are investigated in line with our rules and procedures.”
