Usually, chants for a Boston Celtics player to win the 2023 Most Valuable Player award have been for star forward Jayson Tatum, with a few outings a chant popping up for teammate Jaylen Brown as well,
But MVP chants for veteran Celtics guard Derrick White in Game 2 of the Celtics’ first round Eastern Conference Playoffs series against the Atlanta Hawks were not only extraordinary but given how well the Colorado native was playing, entirely warranted that evening. Though White downplayed his excellence in the postseason for Boston, he has been an absolute tornado on both ends for the Celtics.
Could Derrick White become the Celtics MVP for this playoff run?
The hosts of the CLNS media “Garden Report” podcast recently debated this question in the wake of White’s Game 2 excellence. Tune into the clip embedded above to hear what conclusions they came to.
