Costco customers are calling for the return of the store’s free pastry and coffee offer for early-morning shoppers. The treat meant that those up bright and early were given an energy boost while browsing the aisles.
Fans in a Costco appreciation group were reminded of the offer by another shopper, who asked if they were still available in warehouses. “Thinking of going to Costco tomorrow,” they said, “Do they still do free pastries on arrival or not?”
Many were quick to point out that the offer had been halted when the Covid pandemic hit and stores were quick to reduce contact between people. One key thing was sure though, many customers would love to see the offer return.

“I was never up early enough but I used to love those days,” said one. “They stopped it three or four years ago.”
Another shopper clarified “The free pastry and coffee was for those who had the membership card that gave them priority entry. They stopped this since the pandemic.”
Many remembered the offer fondly. “Those were the days,” remembered one shopper.
Another said “I remember this being a real treat when visiting but I’ve not seen it for years”. While a third added, “I used to love this! They should bring it back”.
Costco said that they had no plans to bring back this offer. Many fans instead recommended that shoppers check out the free samples often available throughout stores.
“I love the Costco samples but you aren’t guaranteed to get anything specific, just what they have out and available,” said one shopper.
Costco is renowned for its samples, offered on tonnes of different products throughout the store. One TikTok user in Canada recently made the news for admitting that sometimes she enjoys the samples offered instead of preparing dinner at home.
