A Costco customer was left in tears of laughter after a baker took her request for a custom cake a little too literally.
The shopper had asked for half a sheet cake filled with vanilla cheesecake mousse, which serves 48 people, but they wanted to keep the appearance pretty simple, requesting “no writing” and “no designs”.

Their only ask was “red frosting on the perimeter for top/bottom”.
And to illustrate how they wanted icing to be piped along the corners of the cake, they drew a little diagram to make things even more clear.
Despite their best efforts, the customer’s order still got lost in translation.
Instead of red piping around the edges, they received a plain white cake with their diagram iced on top.
They seemed to see the funny side though – as a picture of the blunder was posted onto Reddit.
In the r/funny forum, a user wrote: “Costco will give you exactly what you know you didn’t need.”
The post garnered more than 109,000 upvotes – and many found the cake fail to be equally as amusing.
One commenter said: “I laughed so hard I nearly woke up my baby.”
Another wrote: “That’s amazing. I would not be upset.”
And a third said: “That's what happens when you expect someone at the bakery to understand ‘perimeter.’”
'I'll be making men melt this Easter – I'm their favourite hot chocolate'
Meanwhile, others thought the baker had actually ended up improving on the basic design.
One remarked: “This is a thing of beauty”, while another agreed: “I would eat this”.
