Cost of living crisis sees adultery down by 15 per cent in Lanarkshire town

Adultery is falling in Hamilton, with the cost of living crisis a factor in the cheating decrease.

Website IllicitEncounters.com has found that there are 1,131 people having an affair in the Lanarkshire town - a 15 per cent fall on last year's figure of 1,336.

But figures calculated for other locations in South Lanarkshire show that in East Kilbride 917 people are up to no good, a figure that is up from 661 last year.

And in Lanark 23 more people are cheating this year compared to 2021 with 524 people committing adultery this year. In nearby Biggar the figure is up by two people in 2022 from 145 to 147.

In Motherwell 1161 are found to be committing adultery, up from 1421 last year and meaning the town has been ranked number 33 in the country for cheating partners.

And in Coatbridge and Wishaw some 774 and 664 people respectively are having an affair, while a massive combined 1931 people in Rutherglen and Cambuslang are said to be in the throes of a fling.

Jessica Leoni from IllicitEncounters.com told Lanarkshire Live : “We have seen a big fall in affairs in Hamilton.

If found out the cheaters are sure to break hearts (Shared Content Unit)

"The cost of living crisis is a factor because lots of people simply cannot afford to go out to pubs to socialise and this limits the opportunities for cheating.

"The after effects of the COVID crisis has also resulted in a small decline in affairs.

"However, the figures will rise over the next few months.

“The run-up to Christmas is always a boom time for affairs because most people are back in the office and looking for some fun.”

The figures are based on IllicitEncounters ’ own extensive data on the numbers of Britons cheating.
