When you hear “pirate game,” your mind probably jumps to naval battles, sea monsters, and enough rum to sink a galleon. Corsair Cove embraces that fantasy wholeheartedly, letting you build your pirate empire to your heart’s desire—so long as you keep the booze and stew flowing.
Corsair Cove, a new pirate-themed city-builder out of Limbic Entertainment, gives you a rebellious gang of pirates and an island, and it’s up to you to decide the rest. You’ll build structures, farm resources, and sail to neighboring islands to grow your forces and plunder plenty of pirate booty. Top it all off with random events—like illnesses that slow production output, pirate hunters who ambush your captains, and sea krakens that spring up from the ocean’s depths—and you’ve got the bones of any good city-builder. But where Corsair Cove truly shines is in the details: its environmental design, undeniable charm, and the way it constantly goes the extra mile to make your pirate haven feel alive.
To kick off your adventure, you’ll choose to follow either the game’s main campaign in Story Mode or take on a bigger challenge in Uncharted Mode. Story Mode takes place on Skull Rock, an island characterized by tall cliffs that jut out of the ocean like jagged teeth. You have two additional maps to choose between in Uncharted Mode, both of which come with their own challenges that offer a unique experience compared to Skull Rock. You can also customize your difficulty in this mode by changing Pirate Camp ranges, limiting island resources, and raising the rate at which pirates consume resources.
