Ellie, from Bury, joined Audenshaw actress Brooke on the cobbles in 2011. In June Ellie shared on her Instagram a photo of the cousins together taken in 2008 as Brooke turned 30. She told how much she looked up to her 'role model.'
She wrote: "You can tell what type of person someone is by how highly people speak of them, and I’ve never heard a bad word said about you! I think I’ll forever be known as Ellie, Brooke’s cousin but I will always be so proud to be that and to have you by my side through life!" She added: "Thank you for being the best role model anyone could ever ask for, and for always looking out for and taking care of me."
Over on her Instagram, doting mum of two Brooke, 30, who welcomed Mexx's baby brother Monroe last May, posted snaps of Mexx standing alongside a display of cream balloons forming the number three. "THREE years of loving you Mexx," the actress penned, and the birthday best wishes came pouring in.
Helen Flanagan, who played Brooke's older sister Rosie in the soap, said with a row of blue love hearts: "Happy birthday Mexx." Hayley Tamaddon, who played Andrea Beckett, said: "Happy birthday Mexx. You are so edible! And have the most incredible mummy who I adore." And former The Real Housewives of Cheshire star Tanya Bardsley wrote: "Happy birthday gorgeous little man."
Earlier this year Brooke gave an honest insight into being the mum of two young boys. She said in a frank Instagram question and answer session that she has cried wondering how she would manage.
Brooke was asked by one fan: "How do you cope? I've got a two-year-old and a five month old. Life is CRAZY. Find the days so tough." And she admitted: "I'm not going to lie. I'm not too sure I do. I just get through the day."
She continued: "Monroe turning one breaks my heart because I feel like there's been so many times over the past year where I've cried to myself thinking how am I even going to do this. My babies are so young and need so much attention in different forms it's so hard to keep on top of."
And she added: "All I say is it's getting a little easier now they eat the same food and have the same bed time it's easier to manage. But for the first few months I found it so hard to be the best mum, the best girlfriend, the best friend."
