Coronation Street’s Toyah Battersby is headed for further heartbreak next week as Imran Habeeb’s funeral takes place following their deadly car crash.
The future looks dark for Toyah (Georgia Taylor) after husband Imran’s death, paving the way for actor Charlie de Melo’s exit from the soap
The devastating storyline came after Imran found Toyah at the station and decided to use the car journey home to reveal the truth about paying Ben to lie in court.
As the lies unravelled, Imran tried to defend himself, but a disgusted Toyah was outraged and refused to listen.
When the flashforward crash finally aired on the ITV soap, viewers saw that Toyah didn’t slam the brakes or make an effort to follow the road, while driving at a high speed.
As Weatherfield residents attempt to move on with their lives following Imran’s death, ITV spoilers next week reveal Toyah will be questioned on her husband’s shock.
The police are starting to wonder if Toyah drove into the building with the intention of murdering her husband.
The drama unfolds from Monday, June 13, when Imran’s emotional funeral takes place in Weatherfield.
Toyah delivers a heartfelt eulogy, telling the attendees that she wishes Imran had survived the car crash, not her.
But in the gathered mourners, Adam and Alya look on with scepticism.
When the funeral ends, Peter tells Toyah about Adam’s allegation and how the police have just questioned him about Susie and her desperation for a baby.
In later scenes, Toyah calls at the police station and ominously tells DS Swain there are things they need to talk about ahead of a round of questioning.
As we saw this week, DS Swain is aware Toyah and Imran were involved in a tense conversation before the crash, but will she collect enough evidence together to strongly argue the crash wasn’t an accident?
In the interview room, Toyah will have to rely on her memory and history with Imran to protest her innocence as there currently isn’t any physical proof to show she didn’t plan on murdering Imran.
The drama continues on Wednesday, June 15, when the soap has teased that Toyah could be charged with Imran’s murder.
In the scenes next week, Leanne calls at the police station, desperate for news of Toyah and determined to stand by her sister.
Toyah makes it clear that she didn’t intend to kill Imran or herself and she won’t lie to that effect.
But will the police believe her? Or could she soon be facing a murder charge?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
