Coronation Street teens Amy Barlow and Jacob Hay will take centre-stage in an "emotional" new storyline on the ITV soap later this year.
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror at the Inside Soap Awards 2022, soap stars Elle Mulvaney and Jack James Ryan revealed they were about to film "big" scenes, for a plot that will have "long-lasting" effects for the characters.
Viewers will see a "softer" side to former baddie Jacob in upcoming scenes, as the couple step in to support Summer Spellman amid her pregnancy bombshell.
But the couple face a huge storyline of their own, with Christmas on the cobbles set to be huge for both characters.
Jack told us: "We've hit the ground running now. We have got a lot of stuff coming up."
He added: "It's going to be big for Jacob and Amy, that's what I can say. It is gonna be emotional. It's a typical Christmas on the cobbles which is gonna be drama filled, heart-warming, exciting and explosive, all of it. It's going to be a big Christmas for us which is exciting."
Jack also spilled it was going to lead on into the new year, with huge consequences for Amy and Jacob.
He said: "It is going to be something which has long-lasting effects. It is going to be a big storyline so definitely, it will go into the new year."
Actress Elle then joked: "People are going to be so sick of us!"
The couple also feature in scenes with Summer for her own big storyline, with Elle telling us: "Amy is foremost a good and loyal friend. She will support Summer no matter what she chooses, because that is what she is like.
"She cares for Summer and puts her well-being first. Whatever Summer chooses, Amy is gonna be there for her."
Jack added: "Slowly people will see over the next couple of months Jacob's softer side. I have got really nice scenes with Summer for that storyline, and we will see a nice dynamic of their relationship together, of Jacob supporting her and being there for her."
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
