Coronation Street fans believe they have worked out a coming twist on the ITV soap after guilty Toyah Battersby confessed to killing Imran Habeeb.
Spider Nugent listened aghast as Toyah (Georgia Taylor) revealed she made a conscious decision to kill her now late husband Imran ( Charlie de Melo ) in horror scenes earlier this year.
Toyah has been charged by police for deliberately crashing the car she was driving, as she struggled with the news Imran had lied about his liaison with Abi and their custody battle.
Abi and Imran slept together, conceiving baby Alfie and setting in motion a lengthy court battle as they fought for custody of the child, with Imran even providing false evidence to the court.
With her court case looming, Abi offered Toyah a few hours with Alfie before her trial in scenes on Wednesday night, but Toyah was left overwhelmed with emotion.
In later scenes, Leanne walked in and heard a guilt-ridden Toyah confessing to Spider that she lied to the police – days after viewers learned Spider is an undercover cop.
She told him how she crashed the car on purpose and intended to kill Imran, leaving both reeling and fans at home speculating the moment could have huge consequences.
Coronation Street fans were suddenly suspicious of a necklace Spider was wearing in the scenes, as several believed it could be a wire tap that recorded Toyah’s confession.
Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Is there a wire hidden in Spider's s*** necklace?” another asked: “What has Spider got around his neck?”
A fellow fan wrote: “I hope Spiders WIRED LOL LOL PLEASE if there is GOD,” as another penned: “Spider wired - be bloody hilarious if he picked up Street Cars - "Pick up at Rovers Return".”
This comes after actress Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah, has teased things won’t end well for the couple when he hears her murder confession in episodes to air next week.
Explaining what happened with Imran – who cheated on Toyah and fathered a child with Abi Franklin - Georgia said: “She didn’t get in the car meaning to kill him or hurt him.”
Asked how Spider reacts to her shock confession, Georgia revealed: “He’s basically like ‘I can’t hear this’. He bails and then totally falls off the radar.
“When Toyah goes to court she doesn’t know if Spider has told the police or where he is.”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
