Corrie could be about to air the end of Gary Windass if new spoilers are anything to go by, following a dark three-year storyline for the character.
Coronation Street actor Mikey North has hinted his game might be up, as Gary's killer secret is finally exposed leading to "drastic" scenes.
Gary killed loan shark Rick in a woodland showdown in 2019, after Rick tried to murder him and bury him in a grave he'd just forced him to dig for himself.
Since then, Laura Neelan took the blame for her ex-husband's death when his body was found, while days later she passed away from cancer.
Gary's secrets have come under threat numerous times since 2019, but this time it seems he's in danger as Kelly Neelan finds out the truth about her dad Rick's death.
Now, speaking to The Mirror and other press, actor Mikey has teased Gary could be in serious danger, as he teased his future on the soap nearly 14 years on from his debut.
Mikey hinted Gary could be forced to sacrifice his life to save someone else, while full details are yet to be revealed on the dramatic scenes.
He spilled: "I'm glad this softer side of Gary is starting to pop up more and more now. Hopefully they are starting to you know, round him off as a character and he's grown up a lot in the last few years.
"I've really enjoyed getting to play that side but obviously still with the knowledge that he could go at any point, but hopefully he's becoming more of a nicer rounded character. I hope so anyway."
He added: "It's more about trying to redeem Gary for what he's done and like I say, hopefully, deep down he doesn't intend to do wrong.
"He is a good, kind family man deep down, but he does have that temper, but I just hope that we can find a way to redeem him. Hopefully this block of episodes can go a long way to doing that.
"There is a very protective side of him. He wants to look after his family and I always say that everything that he's done, has mainly been with his family in mind and trying to do the right thing.
"Hopefully that is the redeeming quality of the character and how you know, we can progress going forward... if he makes it."
Mikey went on: "I think things often go back to normal and then you know, something else seems to crop up. Let's see. Let's see what's next if this isn't the end."
He also spilled on scenes that could possibly see him sacrificing his own life to save Kelly as they both face danger.
Mikey explained: "I think he's always trying to be one step ahead. You know, he's got himself out of many sticky situations down the years, I always say he's like a cat with nine lives.
"This is getting pretty drastic now and I think the crux of it is, when he has his life at stake, he sort of knew it would always end like this. But when he finds out that Kelly's involved you know, he is willing to die for that girl, and that's the start of this story and, this is what plays out.
"But I think he feels more fear when it comes to other people being in danger as opposed to himself.
"The stuff when she's in danger up on the roof, he will happily go off that roof for that girl, he really genuinely would jump off if it meant saving her.
"That is his main aim whether he dies or not is of no consequence to him. He's just looking to save Kelly. That's how things play out."
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
