Coroner reaches conclusion on Ricky Hatton’s cause of death

  • Former world boxing champion Ricky Hatton was more than twice the drink-drive limit at the time of his death, an inquest has heard.
  • Hatton, 46, was found dead at his home in Hyde, Greater Manchester, by his manager on 14 September 2025.
  • Alison Mutch, the senior coroner for South Manchester, concluded that it was unclear whether he intended to take his own life.
  • His family stated that Hatton was 'in a good place' and had future plans, including a planned comeback fight in Dubai.
  • Hatton had previously spoken openly about his struggles with mental health, alcohol, drugs, and past suicide attempts following his retirement from boxing.
