Coronation Street Sally Metcalfe's romantic hotel retreat prompts fans to beg 'stop'

Coronation Street fans begged "stop" as Sally and Tim Metcalfe enjoyed a spa retreat.

Wednesday's edition of the long-running soap continued to explore the couple's attempts to get through their relationship woes. Tim and Sally have experienced problems in the bedroom since Tim had a triple heart bypass.

The character, played by Joe Duttine, aimed to put the issues behind in the latest episode as he took some tablets during the married couple's romantic night for two. Scenes broadcast in tonight's programme showed the two passionately kissing, before Tim became short of breath.

Tim confessed to Sally about the tablet before he collapsed on the bed. This sparked Sally to call for an ambulance and Tim was rushed to hospital for treatment.

However, viewers following the show on Twitter were shocked by the racy scenes.

Emily tweeted: "I actually beg #corrie to STOP showing Tim and Sally trying to get it on. Enough is enough x"

Steve said: "Me thinks #Corrie should be moved to after the watershed 9pm"

Jane posted: "Oh no, more of Tim and Sally's sex life. It's not funny, it's revolting."

Tina commented : "I love Tim and Sally. But that was almost a bridge too far. Wondered what the time was for a second."

Dave added: "This thing with Tim and Sally is very hard to watch."

However, other viewers praised the programme for tackling the subject.

Rose said: "Just a brilliant episode this evening"

Sue added: "Brilliant episode of Corrie tonight light hearted just what the doctor ordered!"

Paul commented: "What a fabulous episode of @itvcorrie tonight! Legends on top form, and some brilliant moments! Tim and Sally are magnificent"

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
