Coronation Street star Millie Gibson has quit the role of Kelly Neelan, after three years on the ITV soap.
The teen has become a fan favourite in recent scenes, and even scooped a British Soap Award this year in the Best Young Performer category.
But Millie is bowing out of the soap in an "explosive" storyline later this year.
According to The Sun, Kelly could finally uncover the truth about killer Gary Windass, and the fact he allowed her dying mother Laura Neelan to take the blame for his crime.
It's thought dramatic scenes could lead to her departure from the street, with it not clear if a future return is on the horizon.
With it hinted she might be killed off, actress Millie has apparently kept quiet on whether the door will be kept open for her character.
A source told the publication: "Millie’s a huge talent.
"She has loved her time on the soap but there’s a lot of excitement about what she’s going to do next. Everyone has been sworn to secrecy over her exit storyline.
"It’s going to be explosive. Millie’s not even telling people if the door has been left open for her."
The source also told them that a discovery could pave the way for Kelly's departure, as exact details remain unconfirmed.
They said: "Gary’s managed to keep his involvement in the death secret, but it looks like Kelly will finally discover the truth."
Fans will no doubt be fearing Kelly could be Gary's next victim if she was to rumble the truth.
The Mirror has reached out to ITV for comment.
Earlier in the year, fans saw Laura pass away before getting to speak to Kelly, after she lost her battle with cancer.
Laura had taken the blame for Rick Neelan's murder after his body was found, and she covered for Gary so that he could look after Kelly when she was no longer around.
Kelly believed her mum was a killer and refused to see her, before deciding she needed to say goodbye.
Sadly Kelly was too late, and Laura passed away before she reached the hospital.
Actress Millie recently told The Mirror that if Kelly ever learned the truth, she'd want revenge for the loss of her mum, but also for the loss of her dad.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
