Coronation Street fans believe a much-loved character is leaving the soap, and they're not happy about it.
Dame Maureen Lipman first arrived on the cobbles as Evelyn Plummer back in 2018, and she quickly won viewers over with her hilarious quips and no-nonsense manner. It was recently reported Maureen will be taking her one-woman play Rose to the West End.
Rose follows the title character, a Jewish woman who grows up in Ukraine, flees Nazi-occupied Warsaw, and settles for a life in the United States.

With her recent career news, soap fans are predicting she will leave the soap, at least for a period of time. Taking to a Facebook group for dedicated Corrie fans, one viewer said: "That's it for Evelyn, for a while at least, Maureen Lipman is taking her play to the West End later this year."
Other Coronation Street enthusiasts were quick to comment. One Facebook user said: "Great actress, hope she isn't away for too long".
A second said: "Nooo she isn't in it enough as it is, that family needs whipping into shape" [sic]. A third said: "We need her to stay. She is the only comedy left on the show. She is a breath of fresh air."
And a fourth said: "Please come back soon, you are amazing. Tyrone will miss his pretend nana".
