Coronation Street fans annoyed as Tyrone Dobbs is 'replaced'

Coronation Street viewers have been left less than impressed with Tyrone Dobbs after he "let Hope run rings around him" during Sunday's episode.

The long-running soap usually airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, but due to ITV 's coverage of the 2022 World Cup, Corrie has aired at different times this week. This meant an hour-long instalment from 7pm on Sunday.

Hope Stape has been suspended from school, after re-enacting one of her serial killer dad's murders. Hope took a hammer from Tyrone's toolbox and told her friend Sam Blakeman she wanted people to "sit up and take notice" of her, after a book about John Stape's heinous crimes was published.

As the 11-year-old was absent from school, Tyrone "spoilt" her with treats including a milkshake, a new tracksuit and a large takeaway pizza. Many Corrie fans thought this was hardly the way to treat a child who was being punished.

Taking to Twitter, Grianne said: "What is wrong with Ty? Hope once again totally misbehaves, taking a actual hammer to School & threatening a fellow student so what does he do? Immediately takes her shopping/for pizza really?"

Lydia said: "I miss backbone Tyrone. Why have they replaced him with this pushover?" Rhys said :"Hope just gets rewarded for bad behaviour, why would you take her shopping when she's been a little brat?"

Coronation Street continues Monday at 9.15pm on ITV and the ITV Hub
