CHANDIGARH: A Punjab police cop recieved bullet injuries at a hotel room in Sector 22 in Chandigarh in the early hours of Wednesday. The injured cop was admitted to PGI and his condition was stated to be critical by doctors, police said.
The injured cop has been identified as Deepak of Gurdaspur, Punjab.
As per Ram Dass, a hotel staff, he heard a loud sound from inside the room at around 5.30am. When he entered the room, he found a person lying in the pool of blood.
The hotel staff informed the police about the incident and Sector 17 police reached the spot. The cops rushed the injured official to PGI for treatment.
Deepak along with one more cop reached the hotel around 1am on Tuesday. One of them was in police uniform and another cop was in civil dress, said a hotel employee.
The injured recieved injuries in his leg. The police also recovered one AK-47 rifle from the spot and started a probe into the matter.
