Consistency the key for Leeds Rhinos after leaving poor start behind

It was just what the doctor had ordered.

Leeds Rhinos were in need for a good performance and a good win. They got both in one sitting.

The knee-jerk reaction to Leeds' poor start was panic. Three defeats in three games is never ideal but it's not calamitous. The bigger issue had been some of the performances.

But Leeds put that to bed with a clinical display against Wakefield that has got their season up and running.

Clearly, with the greatest respect to Trinity, a win at Belle Vue can't be considered impressive enough to completely overshadow defeats against three sides Leeds want to be competing with.

But equally, Leeds proved they were capable of dominating down the middle and being clinical enough to score plenty of points on the edges.

Now the key is consistency. Hull FC and Salford Red Devils are the next two games and they are pivotal to building a base on which to work from. If Leeds can win their next two, they're three from three and will be in and around where the chasing pack. Two defeats and they're then playing catch-up.

The signs are promising. Ash Handley is playing superbly. Jack Walker was much improved. The pack is playing well.

Leeds can be confident, but they can't be complacent. Seasons aren't won in March but you can lose them. Leeds have an opportunity to build a base.
