Conor McGregor told Ryan Tubridy "I'm too damn pretty" after opening up on struggles before RTE criticism

Conor McGregor took to social media late last week to take aim at RTE.

The Dubliner called the under fire broadcaster a "laughing stock" as he launched an explicit rant at them.

RTE has been engulfed in crisis following revelations last month that it underreported the salary paid to star presenter Ryan Tubridy and failed to disclose €345,000 worth of additional payments to him between 2017 to 2022.

Taking to Twitter, McGregor wrote: "Rte ya’s little ooh laa laa heads. Robbing, plotting, snobby c****, look at ya’s now. Laughing stock!"

In another tweet, he added: "Scheming, lying, fake c****! We want our money back! RTE, ROBBERS OF THE IRISH PUBLIC!"

The rant did not stop there and he continued: "Rte, an arm of the Irish government cartel. Robbing, lying, fake hypocrites! WE DESPISE YOU!"

He then wrote: "I despise our government! To even lambast Rte in the Oireachtas in some sort of high and mighty position is in itself the absolute height of hypocrisy! Let’s see your books now! The amount of corruption in Ireland is horrific. A nation in shambles, ran by lizards!"

McGregor later deleted the tweets, but he didn't always have a poor relationship with the broadcaster, appearing on The Late Late Show on a number of occasions early in his career.

On one of those occasions, he told Tubridy that he "too damn pretty" as he previewed a fight in Dublin.

Another time, he told Tubridy of his struggles as he tried to make in it in MMA and spoke of giving up his job as an apprentice plumber.

He said: "The Irish mentality is when you're finished school, if you're not going to college or anything, you have to get a job straightaway. There's no chasing your dreams and doing what you want to do.

"It's get a trade or get in and do a job so I got the first trade that came my way which was plumbing.

"I spent 18 months doing that and I'm looking around on the site at the fully qualified people with bad backs, bad posture and not a good life to live.

"I just realised I didn't want to go down that route. I thought I could do something with my life and knew I had the ability to make it in this game.

"Of course when I walked out of the job my ma and da weren't too happy, but over time they saw the work I put in. Nobody works harder than me.

"I'm the hardest working athlete on this island. They see that now and now that I'm after making money, I went back and said 'well I told you what I was going to do'."
