Conor McGregor told Islam Makhachev would choke him out in first round

Conor McGregor has been told that he would be submitted by Islam Makhachev inside the first round should they ever face off in the cage.

McGregor is working hard to make a return to the UFC lightweight division as he recovers from a broken leg sustained in a loss to Dustin Poirier last July.

During his absence, Makhachev extended his unbeaten run to 10 fights with a first-round stoppage of Bobby Green, Mirror UK reports.

The Dubliner took to social media yesterday to dismiss the hype surrounding Khabib Nurmagomedov's protege.

"I’ll fight that s***-stain [sic] makchavich, no sweat. Embarrassing g’n’p (ground and pound) the other night imo," he wrote.

"Pitiful punching and then bottles the [Rafael dos Anjos] fight after mouthing off him lol. Embarrassing. Watch when I come back. Same as before. Anyone. Any weight. Anywhere. Game full of s*** stains."

McGregor went on to dismiss Makhachev's win over Green, claiming the American had no damage despite being being taken down and finished.

"Full mount g’n’p and the guy bounces up not a scratch, hugging and kissing," he wrote. "Talking about thanks for the match etc. If that’s me there’s holes left in their head like they been smacked with a sock full of golf balls. Don’t even know where they are. Caramel butter skin strikes again!

"Am I the only one that sees this stuff for what it is or what’s the craic ? Not a scratch, man. Embarrassing!

"I open skin like I’m a scalpel. The sooner the better this leg heals fully and we can get the fuck back going again, Proper! It’s coming 100 per cent! My next scan is this Monday."

But Makhachev's manager Ali Abdelaziz immediately hit back at McGregor, telling him: "Makhachev will submit you under one round, you don't have a chance."

Makhachev is set to face one more hurdle before he can challenge for the 155lb title with UFC president Dana White set to reschedule his clash with Beneil Dariush.

The Iranian was forced to pull out of last weekend's fight through injury but expects to be fit by summer.

The winner of that fight is expected to challenge the winner of champion Charles Oliveira's title defence against Justin Gaethje on May 7.
