Conor McGregor settles US lawsuit filed by UFC fighter Michael Chiesa out of court

Conor McGregor has reportedly settled a lawsuit that was filed over four years ago following an incident in which the Dubliner threw a dolly through the window of a bus transporting UFC fighters.

Michael Chiesa, who was one of those on the bus when the incident happened in April 2018, alleged he was injured when the trolley smashed a rear window on the vehicle and was forced to pull out of his fight with Anthony Pettis two days later.

Four months later, Chiesa filed a lawsuit with a New York court against McGregor, McGregor Sports and Entertainment, the corporate parent of Madison Square Garden and others.

McGregor struck a plea deal to conclude a criminal case, but Chiesa sued the Irishman for negligence, negligent infliction of emotional distress, intentional infliction of emotional distress, assault and battery.

As part of the plea deal, McGregor agreed to five days of community service and to take anger management classes after pleading guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct.

Meanwhile, Chiesa claimed to have suffered "severe emotional distress, mental trauma and/or bodily harm" as a result of the incident.

However, attorneys for McGregor and Chiesa filed a stipulation of discontinuance with prejudice on Friday, meaning they have agreed not to proceed with the lawsuit in court. It also means it cannot be refiled at a later date.

MMA Fighting reports that a settlement was reached between the parties.

Chiesa went on to fight Pettis three months after the trolley incident, losing via submission having failed to make weight for the contest.

Meanwhile, McGregor has won just once in the past four years - when he defeated Donald Cerrone in 40 seconds back in early 2020.

The Notorious has been sidelined for over a year after suffering a horror leg break against Dustin Poirier in July 2021, but is expected to return to the octagon next summer.

The Irish Mirror have contacted McGregor's representatives for comment on the matter.
