Conor McGregor has son in hysterics after picking him up from school in slippers

Fans have labelled UFC legend Conor McGregor "the best dad on the planet" after he picked up his son from school in a pair of cartoon slippers.

McGregor, 34, recently picked up his eldest son Conor Jr from school before flying out to Las Vegas to film The Ultimate Fighter alongside soon-to-be opponent Michael Chandler. The former two-weight world champion wore a pair of slippers in the shape of the cartoon character Jeffy from Super Mario Logan, a show that his son is seemingly a fan of judging by his reaction.

“New slippers picking up Junior," McGregor said in the video. "I’m going to surprise him,” he said before his shocked son sees him. "What's up my man? What do you think buddy? I got new slippers, Jeffy! "I thought I'd surprise you, do you like them pal? McGregor said about the slippers. His son was clearly a fan as they walked hand-in-hand in hysterics.

McGregor captioned the video: "Being a cool dad is awesome" and his partner Dee Devlin commented: "The best daddy on the planet! We love you so much." Conor Jr is the eldest of McGregor's three children, with him and Dee also having a daughter called Croia and another son called Rian."

The heartwarming video caught the attention of fight fans as one user commented: "That’s what it’s all about family making memories and enjoying moments." A second wrote: "Alright that made me smile, cool father" with a third adding: "Imagine your best friends dad coming to get your friend and it's McGregor."

McGregor was recently at his Dublin pub The Black Forge Inn to speak with boxing promoter Eddie Hearn about the possibility of being involved with his countrywoman Katie Taylor's homecoming fight in May. Mirror Fighting spoke with the UFC legend, who was in great spirits, about his fighting comeback later this year as he left his pub.

"I'm looking forward to it," McGregor said of the Chandler fight. "I feel good, I feel energetic, I feel ready. I'm throwing up my high kicks faster than I'm throwing out my jab. So I'm very excited to get back. [I fly to Vegas] tomorrow."

The blockbuster fight, which still has no date or location set, was revealed by UFC President Dana White in a "special announcement" video that captivated the combat sports world earlier this month. Chandler has been calling for a fight against McGregor since signing for the UFC two years ago and predicts that he will knockout the Irishman in two rounds, something that McGregor has laughed off.
