Conor McGregor has boasted he has bulked up so much in the last year-and-a-half that he will have to walk "sideways through doors".
The legendary former two-weight UFC champion broke his leg during a trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in July of last year, but never stopped training his upper body, and has packed on the pounds despite not gaining much fat in the last year. He insists he will be returning to fighting soon, and appears to be heading for welterweight after bulking up considerably.
And during a late-night tweet spree that included recommending featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski also move up the divisions, McGregor shared a photo of his huge gains. He captioned the picture, seemingly taken in a bathroom mirror, by saying "sideways thru doors".
The Irishman is currently on set of the new Roadhouse remake with Jake Gyllenhaal in the Dominican Republic. But he has vowed to have multiple fights before the film is even released next year. This is despite UFC president Dana White confirming over the weekend that he will need to undergo six months of drug testing before being eligible for competition.
"I’m feeling crazy confident," McGregor wrote in a tweet from the film set last night. "Calm. Detached from emotion. Aware of what I must do and making it happen. Visualising. I see it all. Clear. This movie wraps, I’m back. I’ll have multiple fights completed by the time this movie even releases."

He also advised Volkanovski to use his experience having competed in rugby league while weighing as much as 210lb to his advantage by moving up the divisions in the UFC. He had initially slammed the prospect of the Australian fighting Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title in February, joking that the fight would get "10 buys", which led to Volkanovski hitting back with a subtle jab.
After a back-and-forth between the two ended respectfully, McGregor posted: "And we dance on. Good. I was in your exact spot one time don’t forget. 145 coming up. Good luck. I’d say go heavier. Rugby days. Be a bowling ball. That’s how I’d do it as you. Your condition right now as I see it, I don’t know. But bowling ball style for you for best chance. Aim to headbutt the chest cavity."
