Conor McGregor has been told he will retire Michael Chandler after the pair came face-to-face ahead of their UFC fight.
The Irish star has been out of action for nearly two years after breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier, but has announced he will make his comeback against Chandler as part of the UFC's latest series of The Ultimate Fighter. McGregor looks in great shape since taking time away from the octagon, and it is expected the contest will take place at 170lb.
McGregor has been in Las Vegas filming for the coaching stint of the competition against Chandler, with the pair having reportedly been involved in a heated altercation while working with their teams. After resolving their issues, McGregor has since posted a series of face-off pictures from the cage ahead of their upcoming showdown.
The pair can be seen in four separate snaps staring each other down with the final photo showing McGregor and Chandler smiling as they prepare to do battle. Fans were quick to issue their fight verdicts in the comments, with one writing: "Chandler should already have started to look at his retirement plans."
Another agreed: "You knock Chandler out inside one round." One fan manifested a title shot, writing: "Conor vs Colby [C"ovington]. December 23 for the welterweight belt. It’s going to happen." A fan had a completely different opinion, instead writing: "A notorious loss. Knockout in the second round. Chandler hunger and work ethic way more right now."
One fan was extremely confident for the Irish star, adding: "You know it. we know it. Chandler knew it and now you guys get to reap the rewards of an exciting fight style. No retreat, no surrender, war." Another fan had some final advice for McGregor: "Let’s get the no more 'Mr Nice Guy' Conor again! Like Diaz said, you already beat them in those press conference, break Chandler even before he steps into the octagon!"

It has been a tough route to recovery for McGregor who suffered repeated setbacks during the process but he is now ready to return. However it remains to be seen when a date and venue can be confirmed given McGregor has yet to enter the USADA drug testing pool, which could see him sidelined for a further six months.
Despite a potential delay, McGregor has made a violent prediction for the pair's upcoming showdown insisting he will have his hand raised. I think I'm going to slice through him," McGregor told The Mac Life of his American rival. "I think I'm a little too slicey for him than anyone else he's fought. A little too snappy and whippy and I think I'll slice through him."
