Connor Goldson out 'for months' as Giovanni van Bronckhorst gives Rangers injury update

Rangers defender Connor Goldson will be out "for months" after manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst outlined the extent of his likely absence.

The vice-captain was injured in the 7-1 defeat to Liverpool when he went down after a challenge in the first half holding his thigh.

Reports emerged last night suggesting the player might only face weeks on the sidelines but now the true picture of the damage has emerged, with Goldson facing the first long lay-off of his Ibrox career.

He said: "Connor and Ryan have injuries. They left the pitch on Wednesday. They have both got muscular injuries so they won't be back in the short term.

"It's a big blow whenever you have injuries. Connor played all the games since I've joined the club. He was an ever-present and a very important player at the back with his coaching and his presence.

"That's a big blow. We won't have him back for the next months so that's a big blow."

Asked how many months he will be absent, van Bronckhorst replied: "I'm not exactly sure but it will be several months before he can play."

There was good news regarding Ben Davies who the manager confirmed picked up a knock in the same game.

He said: "Ben had a knock on Wednesday but could continue the game. We have training today but I expect him to be involved tomorrow (against Motherwell)."
