PANAJI: Panaji has long been Congress’s weakest link, but the party’s performance in the constituency during the recently concluded assembly elections seems to be one of its worst in many years.
The party was hoping to gain from a division in BJP’s votes, but instead got its own votes split. Its candidate, former city commissioner Elvis Gomes, failed to match even party president Girish Chodankar’s score at the August 2017 bypolls.
