Motorists across the UK are being warned to brace for the busiest Easter period on the roads in four years, with millions of leisure journeys planned despite soaring fuel costs.
The RAC estimates that nearly 21 million car trips for leisure purposes are anticipated between Thursday and Easter Monday. This figure would mark the highest volume of Easter traffic since 2022, which was the first bank holiday weekend following the lifting of coronavirus travel restrictions in England. The motoring organisation based its projection on a survey of 2,219 UK adults, conducted between 20 and 23 March, by which point fuel prices had already seen significant increases.
