Confused woman and dog accidentally end up leading SWAT team during armed raid

A woman had just popped out to take her dog for a walk when she got roped into leading a SWAT raid, she has shared.

Taylor Lumpkin, a resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, US, recounted her experience on TikTok in a series of posts.

The story from the reporter on a local news station TMJ4 News racked up millions of views and was shared widely.

She explained she had got up at 6am to take her dog, Gracie, for a walk when she ran into a man trying to enter the apartment block with a key fob but it wasn't working.

After explaining he needed to get into the building, Ms Lumpkin used her fob to open the door asking if that was all he needed.

She said: "And he was like no, I need to go get something. He's like just hold the door open and I was like alright bet.

"Then he was like: 'Alright ya'll move in!'"

At that moment at least 10 heavily armed police officers filed in, Ms Lumpkin said.

Except the officers weren't quite finished with her.

She continued: "Anyway the head honcho of the group who I originally met in the beginning finally comes back and then he's like alright let's go.

"And they all look to me to lead them up the steps and take them to the floor they need to go.

"Why am I in the front? Why do you need me? I don't know why my dumbass decided to go. I took charge, I don't know."

Stills from CCTV footage show Ms Lumpkin lead the way up the stairs followed by a line of heavily armed and armoured men.

As seriously as everyone was taking it, dog Gracie wasn't on the same page.

Ms Lumpkin said: "Then Gracie's dumb self is all excited. She's running up the stairs. She ready to go break this person's door down with them.

She was eventually sent on her way (@tayylumpp/TikTok)

"She was part of the SWAT team at that point."

After leading the officers to the door, Ms Lumpkin finally handed over command.

She said: "They told me to keep walking and I said: 'Say less. You don't need to tell me twice, I'm trying to live.'"

In one of the videos you can hear police trying to break into one of the apartments shouting: "Open the door. Open the f***ing door."

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were also in attendance wearing their distinct ATF jackets.

Later Ms Lumpkin joked about the incident, which she reported didn't even find the man the police were looking for.

She said: "All I'm saying is that Gracie and I need a key to the city, a proclamation for our heroic actions or something."

Mirror contacted Milwaukee Police Department for more information on the incident.
