Sunderland have announced the signing of goalkeeper Alex Bass from Portsmouth. Bass has put pen to paper on an initial three-year-deal at the Stadium of Light and becomes Alex Neil’s fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Dan Ballard, Leon Dajaku, Jack Clarke and Aji Alese earlier in the window.
Bass is set to provide competition for current first choice shot-stopper, who played 22 matches in the club’s League One promotion winning season last term – including all of the last 18. The new Sunderland ‘keeper spent the second half of the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Bradford City but has also made 41 appearances for Portsmouth.
Here is how Sunderland supporters have reacted to his signing.
