Competition for Nottingham Forest target ramps up as transfer stance set out

Nottingham Forest are likely to face plenty of competition if they pursue their interest in Monza defender Carlos Augusto.

The Reds and Inter Milan have already been linked with the Brazilian. And now Juventus are said to also be keen on securing his signature this summer.

Left-back is one of the areas Forest will look to strengthen when the transfer window officially opens next week. Renan Lodi’s return to parent club Atletico Madrid leaves a hole to be filled, with the Reds facing a challenge to try to get him back.

They do have Omar Richards and Harry Toffolo on the books, while Neco Williams is also capable of playing on that flank. However, Richards is yet to make his debut, despite putting pen to paper almost 12 months ago, due to being sidelined with a hairline fracture of the leg.

Augusto is said to be among their potential list of targets. But the 24-year-old seemingly has no shortage of suitors.

Reports in Italy suggest Juventus are eyeing him up, seeing him as a replacement for the soon-to-depart Alex Sandro. According to Tuttojuve, the Italian heavyweights are considering including Matias Soule as part of their offer for Augusto.

The interested parties could find it tough to prise him away, however. It is claimed Monza are maintaining the in-demand player is not currently for sale.

Nevertheless, Augusto is said to be valued at about £8 million. He started his career at Corinthians before moving to Italy three years ago.

The summer transfer window opens for clubs in England and Scotland next Wednesday. Forest will have until 11pm on Friday, September 1 to get their business done as they make tweaks to Steve Cooper ’s squad in a bid to push on in the Premier League next term.
