A total of nine community groups have received grants from the East Kilbride area committee.
The groups that were awarded the funding include Agape Wellbeing, which received £550 for an outing, entrance fees and materials. and the 17th East Kilbride Brownie Pack which was given £700 for an annual outing and materials.
A new group, Coffee, Chat and Company received £250 for start-up costs, The Acting Bairns of Stonehouse (TABS) were awarded £250 for an outing and entrance fees.
Other groups which benefited include 17th East Kilbride Guides who received £535 for an outing, entrance fees and specialist transport, and Hunter Ladies’ Bowling Club were awarded £200 for an annual outing.
East Kilbride Sports Club were awarded £540 for equipment, Chapelton Silver Circle received £200 for an outing as well as University of the Third Age (U3A) who were also awarded £200 for an outing.
The council operates a community grants scheme to support local constituted community groups and organisations. All those who apply are required to be supported by a constitution, audited accounts or annual income and expenditure accounts, a bank statement and confirmation that the group/organisation will adhere to the conditions of the grant award.
Applications are invited continually throughout the year and the main aims of the community grants scheme are to fund activities and projects which bring community benefit and to involve people in the community by bringing them together to enjoy educational, recreational, leisure and other community activities or to improve the local environment.
Support can be provided from the fund for a range of activities including administration and publicity costs, purchase of equipment and materials, annual outings and entrance fees, start-up costs and special events.
The total allocation for community grants for the East Kilbride Area Committee area in 2022/2023 was 25,750. The amount awarded this week, including play scheme grants, equated to £3165 leaving £19,785 remaining for the remainder of the year.
