Commanders WR Terry McLaurin says the ‘future is bright’

If it wasn’t clear before Friday, the Washington Commanders value defensive tackle Jonathan Allen and wide receiver Terry McLaurin far beyond their on-field excellence.

Allen and McLaurin represented the team Friday at new owner Josh Harris’ introductory press conference. Afterward, Allen and McLaurin joined the new owners, Joe Gibbs and some of the franchise’s legends, for the training camp pep rally.

Both players spoke to the crowd. McLaurin thanked the fans for coming, while Allen was impressed by the fan turnout and energy.

Allen and McLaurin also spoke to the media after the event.

“There’s a lot of optimism for what the future can hold,” McLaurin told Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. “There’s a lot of excitement. You feel like a little weight has been lifted off of everybody’s shoulders.”

McLaurin seemed appreciative of the fresh start. Allen and McLaurin, despite having every reason to want to leave the Commanders, have done everything the right way, setting the perfect example for other players.

At the end of the day, McLaurin took to Twitter to express his gratitude and let everyone know the future is bright in the DMV.

For the first time in a long while, the future is bright for the Washington NFL franchise.
